REEVES. — On March 25, 1944 (result of accident), at Waiwera, Sergeant Francis Eric, dearly beloved husband of Chrissie Reeves, of 31 Elgin road, Mornington, and loved father of Naomi, Raymond, and Selwyn; aged 42 years. — The Funeral will leave our Mortuary Chapel, Clark street, To-day (Monday), the 27th inst., at 2 p.m. for the Anderson’s Bay Cemetery, service commencing at 1.45 p.m. — Hugh Gourley, Ltd., funeral directors.

FATAL ACCIDENT WITH TANK

DUNEDIN, March 26.

One of three men who were injured when a tank overturned at a South Otago military camp died in the Balclutha Hospital yesterday. He was Sergeant Francis Eric Reeves, 42, whose wife and, three children live at Mornington, Dunedin. The tank is reported to have overturned while descending a hill. Reeves and another soldier received injuries to their heads, and a third soldier suffered dislocation of a shoulder. The second man with head injuries is reported to be in a serious condition.  -Evening Post, 27/3/1944.


Balclutha

Fatal Tank Accident. — An inquest was held yesterday before Mr William Roy, district coroner, into the death of Sergeant Francis Eric Reeves, who was injured on March 23 while riding on a tank which crashed while crossing a gully. His death occurred in the Balclutha Hospital on the following day. After hearing evidence, the coroner returned a verdict that death resulted from injuries received when the deceased was riding on a recently repaired military tank while it was on trial at a camp in South Otago.  -Otago Daily Times, 27/4/1944.
