8/3953 Private David Alexander Moir, (29/8/1884-4/12/1923). "at rest"

David Moir was a wood carver when joined the Otago Infantry Regiment in late 1915. He was not a good solder. His health and discipline were not very acceptable and he spent some time attached to the Entrenching Battalion - ditch diggers who were not fit for front line service.  

He arrived back home with tuberculosis and was in and out of hospital until his death in 1923.

MOIR. — On December 4, 1923, at Dunedin, 8/3953 Private David Alexander Moir (late N.Z.E.F.), beloved eldest son of Louisa and the late William Moir, 1 Plunket street, St. Kilda; aged 40 years. “At rest.” Private interment. — E. McLean and Son, undertakers.  -Otago Daily Times, 5/12/1923.
