18949 Private Charles Graham McLeod, (1920-4/9/1942). "often a silent tear"

McLEOD. — Killed in action, Charles Graham, beloved eldest son of John and Linda McLeod, 129 Musselburgh rise (formerly 84 Gordon road, Mosgiel); aged 22 years. “Sadly missed.”  -Otago Daily Times, 15/9/1942.

TAIERI FOOTBALLER’S DEATH 

Another well-known footballer who has made the supreme sacrifice while fighting with the 2nd N.Z.E.F. in the Middle East is Charles Graham McLeod, of Mosgiel. For a number of years he was a member of the Taieri Football Club, and played as fullback in its senior team, of which his brother was also a member. The deceased, a son of Mr J. McLeod, of Mosgiel, was a very popular member of the club.  -Evening Star, 19/9/1942.
