WOMAN DROWNED IN STREAM.
CHRISTCHURCH, March 7.
Miss Joyce Blakeway, aged 23, fell into the Wairarapa Stream at the back of her home in Fendalton yesterday afternoon. She was taken to hospital after artificial respiration had been tried, but was dead on arrival. A post-mortem examination has been ordered by the Coroner. -Ashburton Guardian, 8/3/1937.

DEATH OF YOUNG WOMAN
A verdict of accidental drowning while suffering from an epileptic fit was returned by the Coroner, Mr E. C. Levvey. at an inquest yesterday into the death of Marcia Joyce Blakeway.
Miss Blakeway, aged 22, was found unconscious lying in the Wairarapa stream, at the back of her home in Wai-iti terrace, Fendalton, on the afternoon of Saturday, March 6. Ellen Blakeway said that her daughter, who had been subject to fits for some 13 years, had been missed from her home at 3.30 o'clock on March 6. She was discovered later in the stream lying in two feet of water.
Elizabeth Doris Leibert said that she had seen Miss Blakeway, who had appeared to be in her usual good spirits.
Dr. H. E. W. Roberton, who conducted the post-mortem examination, expressed the opinion that death had been due to drowning. -Press, 30/4/1937.
