75962 Rifleman Frederick Carl Karnbach, (1879-17/7/1919). "ill for some time"


A hospital and progress report issued on Wednesday reports Private F. C. Karnbach (75962) as still dangerously ill.  -Hokitika Guardian, 19/7/1919.


ROLL OF HONOR.

Advice has been received from the Defence Authorities conveying the sad news that Private F. C. (Carl) Karnbach, who has been lying dangerously ill for some time past in hospital in England passed away on the 17th. The deceased was the second son of Mr and Mrs H. Karnbach of Kokatahi. He was about 40 years of age and unmarried. He also leaves a brother and nine sisters. The community will mourn, with the many relatives, at the loss of one of our young settlers who has laid down his life far away from his home, in the cause of King and Empire.   -Hokitika Guardian, 23/7/1919.


Advice by cable was received yesterday of the death from appendicitis of Private Earl Karnbach, on 17th July, in hospital in England. The deceased soldier was the second son of Mr and Mrs H. Karnbach, of Kokatahi, and was 40 years of age. He left with the 41st reinforcements. He had been ill for some time, and an operation for appendicitis was performed, but he succumbed afterwards from stoppage. Deceased leaves a brother and nine sisters. To the bereaved will be extended the sympathy of many friends.  -Greymouth Evening Star, 24/7/1919.
