8/3655 Private Robert Kell, (1893-15/9/1916). "the shock was great, the pain severe"

For the story of Robert Kell's unit on the day he was killed, I direct you to my previous story, of William Ellis Williams of Kaitangata, who was in the same Battalion and died on the same day.

ROLL OF HONOUR

PRIVATE R. KELL.

Private Robert Kell, killed in action, was a son of Mr Wm. Kell, of Waitahuna.  -Clutha Leader, 10/10/1916.

IN THE EMPIRE'S CAUSE

KELL. — In loving memory of Private Robert Kell, who was killed while in action in France on September 15, 1916.

He left his home in perfect health, He little thought of death so nigh,

But God saw best to take him home, And with His will we must comply,

The shock was great, the pain severe, To part with one we loved so dear;

Our trial's hard, we will not complain, But trust in God to meet again.

— Inserted by his parents, brothers, and sisters.   -Otago Daily Times, 15/9/1917.

Waitahuna Cemetery.
