The death is announced of Mr J. A. X. Riedle, who lived at St. Clair for many years, and who was for 25 years manager of the Dresden (now The Bristol) Piano Company. He retired from the firm in 1909, owing to failing health. His wife him a few years ago. The deceased gentleman was a capable business man, and was well known throughout Australasia in theatrical and musical circles.   -Evening Star, 23/8/1916.

The name change of the Dresden Piano Company to the Bristol was part of a reaction to the anti-German feelings produced by the First World War.

The remains of Mr J. A. X. Riedle were interred in the Anderson Bay Cemetery this morning. The Bristol Piano Company, of which he was manager for many years, were represented by Mr Theomin, Mr Bennell, and others, and many musicians were in the procession; also one or two personal friends who knew the deceased when a boy in Victoria.  -Evening Star, 25/8/1916.
