McLean Murdoch, (1901-27/7/1933). "floral tributes"

 

Mr McLean Murdoch, of Mayfield, died suddenly at Oakhurst Private Hospital early this morning. Mr Murdoch was the fifth son of Mrs O. Murdoch, of Ashburton, and the late Mr George Murdoch, of Mayfield. Mr Murdoch, who was 33 years of age, was a member of the Mayfield Football Club and he at one time played in the Ashburton County junior representative Rugby team. He had been farming since he left school. He was a married man. As a mark of respect to his memory, the flag at the Ashburton Club and M.S.A. was flown at half-mast today.  -Ashburton Guardian, 27/7/1933.

THE Funeral of the late McLean Murdoch will leave the residence of his mother, Mrs Charlotte Murdoch, corner of Park and Wills Streets, Ashburton, TO-MORROW (Friday), at 2.30 p.m., for the Ashburton Cemetery.

There was a large cortege at the funeral of the late Mr McLean Murdoch at Mayfield yesterday. The service was conducted by the Rev. A. D. Kirkland and the Rev R. S. Watson and the pall-bearers were Messrs L. Murdoch, G. J. Murdoch, N. S. Murdoch and A Smillie. Among the floral tributes were wreaths from the Mayfield Football Club, Mayfield Agricultural and Pastoral Association, Messrs McDonald and Dunlop, New Zealand Refrigerating Company, Ashburton branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Association, National Mortgage and Agency Co., Canterbury Frozen Meat Company and Ashburton Motors, Ltd.  -Ashburton Guardian, 29/7/1933.


A motion of sympathy with Mrs McLean Murdoch in the death of her husband was carried 1 in silence at the meeting of the management committee of the Ashburton Rugby Union last evening.  -Ashburton Guardian, 1/8/1933.
