Lydia Harriet Letham, (1918-12/3/1933). "taken away"

 DEATHS

LETHAM. — On March 12, 1933, at her parents’ residence, Sherwood, Laureston, Lydia Harriet, dearly loved eldest daughter of Walter and Harriet Letham; aged 15 years. "A patient sufferer at rest."  -Otago Daily Times, 13/3/1933.

Lydia Harriet Latham, who died at Sherwood on Sunday, was an old pupil of the Lauriston School and C'olumba College, Duncdin. In the field of sport she was outstanding, and during one year won the points honours for her school by a narrow margin at the Ashburton Primary Schools' Sports Association annual athletic meeting. She was very popular in the Lauriston district. The funeral took place at Ashburton on Monday, when the Rev. A. S. Morrison officiated. Wreaths were sent from the C'olumba College, committee, staff, and pupils of the Lauriston School, Lauriston Hall Society, Lauriston Presbyterian Church and Sunday School, in addition to a number of wreaths from friends. As a mark of respect to Miss Letham, the Lauriston School was closed on Monday afternoon.  -Press, 15/3/1933.
