Cyril Dawson Crosbie, (1912-5/1/1941). "the dearest brother"

YOUNG MAN DROWNED

FISH-NETTING TRAGEDY

(Per Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, this day.

While netting flounders in the Mataura estuary near Fortrose, yesterday afternoon, a young married man, Mr, Cyril Dawson Crosbie, aged 28, son of Mr. James Crosbie, Waikawa Valley, got into difficulties in deep water, and though his brother attempted to rescue him he was forced to retire, reaching the shore in an exhausted condition. No other members of the party were able to swim.

Mr. Crosbies body was recovered two hours later, but artificial resuscitation proved unavailing.  -Gisborne Herald, 6/1/1941.
