GIRL INJURED WHEN CAR OVERTURNS
TYRE BLOWS OUT AT RAKAIA
A girl suffered serious injuries when the car she was driving overturned on River Road, Rakaia, Wednesday afternoon.
She is Marcia Ann Todd, daughter of Mr A Todd, Rakaia. It is believed that a tyre blew out on a straight shingly stretch of the road, and the car turned over several times. Miss Todd was taken to the Ashburton Public Hospital, and was reported to be on the seriously ill list yesterday. Her condition late last evening was reported to be unchanged.
Three months ago Miss Todd fractured her pelvis when she fell from a fire escape. -Press, 30/10/1954.
GIRL DIES OF INJURIES
Marcia Ann Todd, aged 15 years, who was seriously injured when the car she was driving crashed on River road, Rakaia, last Wednesday afternoon, died in the Ashburton Public Hospital at 9.40 a.m. on Saturday morning.
An inquest was opened by the Ashburton district Coroner (Mr E. C. Bathurst) on Saturday, and was adjourned sine die after evidence of identification had been given. -Press, 1/11/1954.
