DEATHS.
O'LEARY. On November 20th, 1918, at the Wairad Hospital, of pneumonia: Kathleen O'Leary, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs C. O'Leary, Nicholson Terrace, Blenheim; aged 27 years. -Marlborough Express, 22/11/1918.
Personal
The many friends and relatives of Miss Kathleen O'Leary will regret to hear of her early death. Miss O'Leary had been teaching at the Waterfalls school for the past nine years, and resided with Mr and Mrs Fleming, of "Craigneuk," Seddon. Unfortunately, like many others, on their return from Christchurch, Mr and Mrs Fleming were laid up with influenza, and in a few days the whole family had contracted the disease. In her efforts to relieve the other sufferers Miss O'Leary took no heed to the fact that she also had contracted it in a much worse form than they, and when on Thursday evening she was at last forced to lie up pneumonia had set in. Her removal to the Wairau Hospital was ordered, and Mr Lissaman and the District Nurse brought her in on Sunday afternoon. She gradually sank, until she passed away on Wednesday afternoon. Private interment took place yesterday morning after a Requiem Mass. Mr and Mrs O'Leary and family have the sincere sympathy of a large circle of friends in their great bereavement. -Marlborough Express, 22/11/1918.
CORRESPONDENCE.
MISS O'LEARY'S DEATH.
[to the editor.]
Having noticed a letter of Nurse McIver in the columns of your last week's paper, I, as well as many others, consider that letter entirely uncalled for, as there was nothing in the locals of your paper about my daughter, the late Miss Kathleen O'Leary, that anyone could take exception to. What Miss O'Leary did was entirely voluntary, and no blame was atitributed to Miss Fleming or anyone. Like many others, she volunteered to do a good work, and in so doing, unfortunately fell a victim to the disease, which in her case proved fatal, and so gave her life for others. My daughter is now in peace, and would wish to be left so.
MARGARET M. O'LEARY, 5 Nicholson Terrace, Blenheim. Marlborough Express, 11/12/1918.
THANKS
MR & MRS O'LEARY wish to sincerely thank Dr. Russell Adams, the Matron and Nurses, and all who in any ways rendered kindness and attention to their late daughter, Kathleen, also these who sent floral offerings and messages of sympathy in their recent sad bereavement.
Mr and Mrs O'Leary and family wish to sincerely thank the ladies of the Technical School, the Boy Scouts, and all kind friende for valuable assistance rendered in their recent illness. -Marlborough Express, 13/12/1918.
