Surgeon Superintendent William Draper, 1827-4/1853.

William Draper was Ship's Surgeon on board the "Duke of Bronte" when it arrived at Lyttelton in 1851.  He bought land on Winchester St in Christchurch but died two years later, of hunger and exposure, after crossing the Rangitata River, and was buried at Lyttelton on June 26th.

His diary is held by the Canterbury Museum.
