Death of a Trooper. — It is with deep regret we chronicle the death of Mr David McLauchlan, late trooper in the Ninth Contingent, who passed away this morning at the residence of Mr Carter, Trevorton, at the early age of 23 years. Deceased, who was a native of the Ashburton County and the youngest son of the late Mr John McLauchlan, Tinwald, contracted an attack of measles whilst on his way to South Africa, and catching a severe cold before being thoroughly convalescent that dreaded disease consumption took hold of him, and although he bore up bravely, and in spite of the best medical skill and careful nursing obtainable, he passed away peacefully this morning after a lingering illness. His funeral will move from the residence of Mrs Carder, Trevorton, at 10 a.m. on Thursday. -Ashburton Guardian, 13/10/1903.

THE Friends of the late Me David McLauchlan are respectfully informed that his Funeral will move from the residence of Mrs Carter, Trevorton, on THURSDAY, 15th inst., at 10 a.m. for the Ashburton Cemetery. -Ashburton Guardian, 16/10/1903.
Funeral.— The funeral of the late Mr David McLauchlan, late trooper of the 9th Contingent, took place yesterday morning, and was largely attended by the relatives and friends of the deceased. Several nice wreaths were placed on the grave. Rev. Q. B. Inglis conducted the ceremony at the graveside. -Ashburton Guardian, 16/10/1903.
