There died at the Hospital yesterday Mr A. R. Lockhart, a returned soldier, who has been in the hospital for some time. Mr Lockhart went away with the 8th Reinforcement, and after being badly gassed in France was invalided home early in 1917. He had been under treatment nearly the whole time. Prior to his coming to Waimate, where he was ordered for a holiday, Mr Lockhart held a position at the Post Office, Dunedin. -Waimate Daily Advertiser, 27/7/1920.
The funeral of the late Private Allan Rae Lockhart, M.C., took place yesterday. The deceased soldier was buried at the Anderson's Bay Cemetery, the gun carriage taking the body from the St. Kilda Presbyterian Church. Lieutenant Healy represented the Defence Department, and Bugler Sargison sounded the "Last Post" at the graveside. The burial service was conducted by the Rev. R.
