John Burnard was a baker in Greytown when he was chosen by ballot for the 46th Reinforcements in May, 1918. He died on Quarantine Island/Kamau Taurua of influenza, during the 1918 epidemic.
He was buried at Andersons Bay Cemetery, accorded a military funeral.
