FATAL ACCIDENT AT THE TAIERI SHOW.
[From Our Own Reporter.] MOSGIEL. November 13. A fatal accident, which cast a gloom over the whole proceedings, occurred at the Taieri Show this morning. James McCutcheon. farm laborer, in the employ of Mr Samuel Young, of Allanton, was holding a young colt's head while another man was washing its legs. Suddenly the animal reared and struck McCutchcon on the head with its fore foot, knocking him down. McCutcheon did not speak a word, and never regained consciousness. He was taken to the Mosgiel Hotel. Constable Walton and Dr Peters were summoned. The latter pronounced life extinct, the neck having been broken. The deceased leaves a wife and two young children at Allanton. -Evening Star, 13/11/1906.
