A shooting expedition in the Huxley Gorge, fifty miles from Kurow, had a fatal sequel last evening when Robert Clive Crawford, aged twenty a carpenter’s apprentice, of 7 Melville Street, Dunedin, fell over a fifty-foot cliff. He suffered a fractured skull, death being almost instantaneous.

Local residents consider Crawford would not have travelled over this section if he had been familiar with the district.  -Grey River Argus, 27/3/1940.
