James McKay, (1846-7/4/1897). "suffering from consumption"

Death. — It is with regret that I have to chronicle the death of Mr James McKay, jun., of Bushy Park, Longbush, after a long and painful illness At the time of his death deceased was staying at Queenstown, where he had been residing for some considerable time on account of bad health. His family has the sympathy of all the residents in this district, they being well and favourably known here. The funeral, which was the largest ever seen here, took place on Sunday last.  -Otago Witness, 15/4/1897.

Deaths. — During the week now' closing we have had three deaths in our small community — namely, those of Mr James McKay, who died of hemorrhage while suffering from consumption; and Mr Thomas Mitchell, of the same fell disease. Both were young men, and leave friends in Southland. At Gibbston Mrs Don, who has been ailing for some time, passed away peaceably last Thursday, leaving a daughter to mourn her loss.  -Otago Witness, 22/4/1897.
