Donald Kennedy was working as a clerk for Butterworths in Dunedin when he joined the Army in 1916. He was posted to No2 Battery, NZ Field Artillery and was one of three men killed by a German shell on November 7, 1918. They were the last New Zealanders killed before the November 11 Armistice.
