We have to record the death of Mr John Sidey, jun., son of Mr John Sidey, of Caversham, and brother of Mr T. K. Sidey, solicitor. The deceased had for some years past been sheep farming in the Strath Taieri district. A correspondent informs us that the deceased gentleman was of uniformly cheerful and genial disposition, with a fund of humor and an extreme of kindheartedness — qualities which won for him a feeling of general goodwill and affection. -Evening Star, 15/5/1895.

MIDDLEMARCH.
May 27.— A feeling of sorrow was perceptible over the district of Mount Stoker and Middlemarch when the death of Mr John Sidey, of Mount Stoker station, became known. During the seven years Mr Sidey resided in our midst he was never called upon in vain for help. He was ever willing to give assistance towards any charitable and good cause, and to lend a helping hand to any purpose which might benefit the district. Perhaps none will miss him more than those who travel this way. It has many times been said that he never turned a traveller from his door without administering to his wants. His station hands and friends alike will ever remember the genuine disposition of young Sidey of Mount Stoker station. -Otago Witness, 6/6/1895.
