4216289 Flight Sergeant Keith Dickson Howden, 1923-31/12/1944.

Details on the life of Keith Howden are not easy to come by.  He received his flight training at the No. 13 Service Flying Training School, at St Hubert, Quebec, Canada and then at the No. 9 Service Flying Training school at Summerside, Price Edward Island, also in Quebec, Canada.

He then went on to the No. 5 Advanced Training Unit, RNZAF, at Tern Hill, Shropshire, where he was flying a two-seater Harvard training plane, practising the manouevres which would make him a fighter pilot ready to take on the Luftwaffe over Europe.

According to the "RAF Commands" page, their plane was put onto a loop at between 1000 and 1300 feet and stalled while pulling out.  One wing flicked over and the Harvard crashed, killing both on board.

Keith Dickson Howden is buried at Blacon Cemetery, Cheshire, UK.
