FATAL ACCIDENT AT THE HEADS.
News reached Port Chalmers this morning that a fatal accident had occurred to one of the sons of Mr Park, the principal lighthouse-keeper at Taiaroa Heads. The lad, who was between seven and eight years of age, left home yesterday morning to attend the school at the Heads; but not returning home in the evening inquiries were made, and it was then ascertained that the lad had not attended school during the day. A search was made, which resulted in finding the boy's cap on one of the ridges of the rock, and it is surmised that he fell over the cliff into the sea between the lighthouse and the building used as a store-house. The cliff at this point being almost perpendicular, is protected by a three-railed fence. -Evening Star, 9/4/1886.
