[Special to the Star.] LAWRENCE, June 15.
A young man named George Rose, the second son of Mr John Rose, of Waitahuna Gully, came to his death in a sad way on Thursday. He had gone out rabbiting early in the week in the neighborhood of the Waitahuna Heights, where his father holds a glazing run, and as he did not return to his home on Tuesday sight a search party was organised to find out what had become of him. He had apparently travelled some distance, had been overtaken by a severe snowstorm, and, wandering about, had fallen down from exhaustion. When found he was quite unconscious and almost lifeless. He was conveyed home with as little delay as possible, restoratives were promptly applied, and everything done that was possible under the circumstances, but the poor fellow passed away quietly on Thursday evening from the effects of exposure and exhaustion. -Evening Star, 16/6/1906.
