The Defence authorities advise that 57292, Private William Anderson, D Company, 28th Reinforcements, died at Duriedin Hospital on July 8, from cerebro spinal meningitis. -Dominion, 12/7/1917.
CLUTHA NEWS ITEMS.
(From Clutha Leader.) We regret to record the death of Private William Anderson, son of Mr and Mrs Wm. Anderson, Clinton, which occurred at the Dunedin Hospital on Sunday. The late Private Anderson, who went into eamp with the 28th reinforcement draft, arrived home on final leave on Wednesday last, and was then feeling rather unwell. He rapidly became worse, and Dr Stenhouse, who was called in, ordered his removal to the Dunedin Hospital. Though the deceased soldier received the best of medical skill he gradually sank until the end came on Sunday, as stated. Much sympathy is felt for the bereaved parents in their sudden and sad loss. The funeral will leave the Clinton station this afternoon for the Clinton cemetery. -Bruce Herald, 12/7/1917.
PERSONAL
Reference was made in our last issue to the sad death of 'Private William Anderson, who, we stated, was the son of Mr WM. Anderson, Clinton. This was an error, the late soldier's father being Mr John Anderson, Ashley Downs. -Clutrha Leader, 13/7/1917.
