A sad fatality occurred at Tuatapere on Thursday morning. James Walter Millard, aged eighteen years, whose parents reside at Te Tua was engaged in bush felling, when he met his end through being crushed by a tree, death being instantaneous. Great sympathy is expressed for the parents in their sad bereavement. -Western Star, 26/5/1911.
ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS.
James Walter Millard, in company with David Arthur, had just commenced their day's work at a bush-clearing contract. A heavy tree in its descent struck a standing one, which caused the falling tree to spring sideways, striking Millard and pinning him to the ground, death being instantaneous. The victim of the accident was a fine promising youth of eighteen years. -Evening Star, 29/5/1911.
