Jack Blaylock joined the RNZAF and trained in Canada as a radio operator, bombardier and air gunner. He joined RAF 269 Squadron, operating Lockheed Hudsons from Iceland, against German submarines. He had completed five operational missions when, on a training mission firing underwing rockets, his plane failed to pull out of a shallow dive and hit the sea. Two bodies were recovered but Jack was missing. His remains were not found.
