WEDDING
Copland — Egerton On the morning of Saturday, June 20, in the South Dunedin Presbyterian Church a pretty wedding was solemnised by the Rev. S. D. Baird between Trooper Lindsay Joseph Copland, youngest son of Mr John Copland, of Balclutha, and the late Mrs Copland, and Elizabeth Joyce, only daughter of Mr and Mrs F. L. Egerton, of St. Kilda. The bride looked charming in a trained gown of ivory taffeta faconne, with a double heartshaped neckline and softly shirred bodice. Her silk embroidered veil (lent by a friend) was arranged over a coronet of orange blossoms and leaves. A sheaf of freesias and winter roses completed a charming ensemble. She was attended by Miss Edna Cruickshank and Miss Jessie Goatham (cousin of the bride), who wore green and lavender net over satin respectively, and shepherdess caps finished with bows of net at the back. Their sheafs were of violets and chrysanthemums. Mr Marshall Burning was best man, and Mr Jack Marshall attended as groomsman. Mr M. A. Holgate and Mr L. Milne acted as ushers. During the signing of the register Miss June Fuller gave a delightful rendering of the solo “Because.” At the Vedic Cafe, where the reception was held, the bride's mother received the guests, assisted by Mrs H. A. Holgate, sister of the bridegroom. Mrs Egerton, who was smartly attired in a navy costume, with hat to match and a silver fox fur, carried a bouquet of red roses. Mrs Holgate wore a brown costume and fur, and accessories to match. She carried a bouquet of gold chrysanthemums. For travelling, the bride chose a brown frock with green braid and brown accessories, and a coat of green Angora check. -Otago Daily Times, 30/6/1942.
