Personal Items

It is with regret that we record the death of Elsie Ida Wingham, of Dunollie, which took place on Friday. The deceased, who has been residing with her brother, Mr James Wingham, at the Dunollie Hotel for the past two years, had only been ailing for a few days, death resulting from diabetes. She was 19 years of age and a bright, winsome girl, who was popular with all. She leaves her mother and four sisters and four brothers to mourn their loss. The sisters are Mrs W. Henderson (Stoke), Mrs Lamborn (Timaru), and Miss Neta and Vera (Dunollie), while the brothers are Messrs J. Wingham (Gore), W. Wingham (Timaru), J. D. Wingham (Dunollie), and a brother at the front. We extend our sympathy to the relatives in their bereavement.  -Grey River Argus, 21/6/1915.

The remains of the late Ida Elsie Wingham, daughter of Mrs J. Wingham, senr., were laid to rest in the Greymouth cemetery yesterday. The body was brought in by special train from Dunollie, and the cortege, already large, was considerably increased by Greymouth mourners. Many wreaths and other floral emblems of sorrow were placed on the grave, and the burial service of the Church of England was conducted by the Rev. J. A. Rogers.  -Grey River Argus, 28/6/1915.
