INQUEST.
DUNEDIN, Aprl 18. An inquest was held to-day touching the death of George Brookes, 15 years of age. The evidence showed that deceased purchased a toy pistol, and placed a cartridge in it. The hammer was stiff and deceased placed the muzzle against his stomach and tried to push the hammer back, when it slipped, the charge exploding. The bullet entered the abdomen and probably lodged in the muscles of the back. The jury returned a verdict of incidental death, with a rider expressing the desirability of some legislation enactment by which the indiscriminate sale of firearms, particularly to juveniles, should be curtailed. -Grey River Argus, 19/4/1906.
