A SAD accident occurred at the Blue Spur on Monday afternoon, when by Mr James McFarlane, a well known miner, met his death. He was at work in the Fidelity Co.'s claim, in which he held an interest, when a piece of cement fell from the top of the face and struck him on the body, knocking him over and breaking several of his ribs. The immediate cause of death was attributed by Dr Nicoll to internal hemorrhage, resulting from the broken ribs. An inquest was held on the body before Mr Jas. Campbell, J.P., when a verdict in accordance with the medical testimony was returned. — (Correspondent.)   -Mt Benger Mail, 9/10/1896.
