Leslie Patterson, 1913-21/5/1936.

In the City Police Court yesterday morning, before Mr W. H. Freeman. S.M,. Leslie Patterson, of Lumsden, aged 25, single, a labourer, was charged with stealing at Lumsden on August 27 £l5 in notes, the property of John Holland. The accused, who was represented by Mr J. C. Prain, pleaded guilty and elected to be dealt with summarily. Senior-Sergeant Kelly said that £5 8/6 in notes and clothing to the value of £3 2/- had been recovered. Mr Prain suggested that a term of probation under stringent conditions might meet the case, but Constable H. J. Thompson, of Lumsden, said he could not recommend this course. The accused was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment with hard labour.  -Southland Times, 3/9/1935.

For a breach of a prohibition order Leslie Patterson was convicted and ordered to pay costs 10/-.  -Southland Times, 21/5/1935.


PATTERSON. — At Invercargill, on Thursday, 21st May, 1936, Leslie Patterson (late of Lumsden); in his 27th year. (At Rest). The funeral will leave the residence of Mrs A. E. Brooks, Lumsden, for the Lumsden Cemetery at 2.30 pm. on Sunday, 24th inst. Friends please accept this (the only) intimation.— Cowley & Co., Undertakers.   -Southland Times, 23/5/1936.


OBITUARY 

The death of a young Lumsden resident, Mr Leslie Patterson, occurred at Invercargill. Mr Patterson was a playing member of the Lumsden Football Club for a number of years.  -Southland Times, 26/5/1936.
