DEATHS.
On the 9th September, at Gowrie, the residence of her brother-in-law (Mr Peter Grant), Amy Osborne; aged 24. -Otago Witness, 17/9/1881.
The news of the death of Miss Amy Osborne (formerly female teacher at the Kaitangata School) has cast a deep gloom over the district. One so young and so well liked by both old and young during her sojourn here to be cut away in her prime! Many of the young ones will ever remember the kind teacher of their youth, and shed a tear in her memory. How precarious is life, reader! You or I may be the next. Then I trust we shall be prepared to leave our soulless clay for a higher life of usefulness in the unknown realms of bliss. -Otago Witness, 24/9/1881.
