Violet Winifred Duncraft, (1885-4/9/1914). "very much esteemed"

It is with extreme regret we have to record the death of Mrs. Violet Duncraft, which took place yesterday evening, after a very short illness, she leaving a husband, Mr. Reginald Duncraft, and a family of two, the youngest being 7 days old. The deceased was the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Smith, of Woolhouse Street, Ross. The deepest sympathy will be extended to the sorrowing relatives in their sad bereavement. The deceased, who was a native of Ross, was very much esteemed by a large number of friends.  -West Coast Times, 5/9/1914.

Newspapers at the time were rather coy when it came to reporting deaths of women during or after childbirth.  The existence of a seven day old child would indicate that Violet's was such a death.
