THE INQUEST.

An inquest touching the death of James Lancaster. a workman in the employ of the Tarakohe Cement Company, who died in the Hospital on Monday night from injuries received at the works last Thursday, was opened before the Coroner (Mr E. Davidson) yesterday afternoon.
Mr C. J. Harley watched the proceedings on behalf of the Golden Bay Cement Company.

Dr Jamieson, Resident Surgeon, deposed that the deceased was admitted to the Hospital on Thursday last, suffering from a fractured and dislocated spine and minor wounds and bruises about the head, neck, and shoulders. He was completely paralysed from the shoulders downwards. His condition did. not alter materially until the afternoon of the 16th, when he gradually became unconscious, and he died the same evening.
