Steven (or possibly Stephen) Robinson enlisted in the Air Force in June, 1941, and had his initial training at the Taieri Air Force base. He won his "wings" the following November at Wigram.

For his operational training he was sent to the UK and flew twin-engined Oxford trainers at No. 15 Advanced Flying Unit at Leconfield, Yorkshire.  While on a training flight his aircraft collided with another Oxford from the same unit.  All four men were killed.
