DEATHS
Menzies. — On the 10th July, at Hakateramea, Mary, the beloved daughter of James and Matilda Menzies, aged 14 years. The funeral will leave her parents' residence at 1 o'clock, on Tuesday, the 18th instant, for the Hakateramea Cemetery. Friends will kindly accept this intimation. -Oamaru Mail, 17/7/1893.
Our Kurow correspondent writes: — The funeral of Mary, eldest daughter of Mr James Menzies, Hakateramea, took place yesterday. The cortege was a very large one, consisting of people from all parts of the district. In the train were the schoolmates of the deceased, with whom she was a great favorite, and, en route, these again were largely augmented by the children of the Sandhurst school. Quite 200 people must have been present. The ceremony at the grave was conducted by the Rev. P. S. Hay. Great sympathy is felt for Mr and Mrs Menzies at the loss of one so full of promise. -Oamaru Mail, 19/7/1893.
