24457 Private Thomas James Smith, 20/5/1892-25/6/1917. "attendant at Seacliff"

 

Thomas Smith was an attendant at Seacliff asylum when he joined the Army in May, 1916.

He was wounded on June 10th, 1917, in the opening phase of the Battle of Messines. It was reported as a gunshot wound in the back, and Thomas died two weeks later of his wound and of bronchial pneumonia.
