It is with regret that we announce the death of Mrs McDowall, wife of Mr Robert McDowall, of Arrow. She had been in ill health for some time past, and her death, which occurred at an early hour this morning, was not unexpected. Deceased was only twenty-five years of age and her only child died about three months ago. The sympathy of the whole community will be extended to Mr McDowall in his sad bereavement. The funeral will leave Arrow for the Queenstown cemetery at noon on Saturday. -Lake County Press, 17/9/1914.

McDowall — On 17th September, 1914, at her residence, Arrowtown, Mary Petheram (May), dearly beloved wife of Robert McDowall, and second daughter of George Outsell, Waikawa; aged 25 years. The Funeral will leave her lute residence on SATURDAY NEXT, 19th September, at 12 noon, for the Queenstown Cemetery. -Lake County Press, 17/9/1914.
The funeral of the late Mrs Robert McDowall, which took place at the Queenstown cemetery on Sunday last, was very largely attended. Many floral tributes were placed upon the grave, including a handsome wreath from the members of the Arrow Brass Band, of which deceased’s husband was bandmaster. Members of the Band acted as pallbearers, and the service at the grave was conducted by the Rev. W. Uphill. -Lake County Press, 24/9/1914.
