Tereza McDowell, 1885-6/8/1906. "her kindly disposition"

 DEATHS.

Friend after friend departs;

Who hath not lost friends ?

Scarcely a week passes by but what we have to record the death of one who has long resided amongst us, or of one on the threshold of man or womanhood. This week it is our sad duty to record the death of two young people. Firstly, that of Miss McDowell, eldest daughter of Mr R. McDowell, of Lake Hayes, which took place at her parents' residence on Monday morning after a brief illness. The cause of death, we understand, was blood-poisoning. Deceased young lady was in her 21st year. Her kindly disposition and pleasing demeanour won for her many friends, who will receive the news of her demise with feelings of the deepest regret. It is only those who have lost loved ones that can realise the terrible blow Mr and Mrs McDowell have sustained. We extend to them in their sore trial, our heartfelt sympathy and in this we are but echoing the sentiments of the district's people as a whole. The remains of the late Miss McDowell were interred in the Arrow cemetery on Tuesday, a very large number of friends attending to pay the last tribute to the memory of one so loved, so mourned. Mr Orr conducted an impressive burial service.  -Lake County Press, 9/8/1906.

LOCAL AND GENERAL.

By a printer's error portion of a letter of thanks was omitted in issue. It should have read that Mr and Mrs R McDowell, of Lake Hayes, desired to thank all friends for their kind sympathy in their recent sad bereavement and also the friends from they received telegrams and letters of sympathy.  -Lake County Press, 16/8/1906.
