WEDDINGS.
Cowan — Perriam.
A quiet wedding was celebrated at Gibbston on Wednesday, 29th ulto., the contracting parties being Miss Sarah Louisa Perriam, second daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Charles Perriam, and Mr James A. Cowan, second son of the late Mr and Mrs James Cowan. The Rev. R G. Coates was the officiating clergyman. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr Wm. Perriam, was attired in a dainty frock of white silk trimmed with pearls. She also wore the usual veil and wreath of orange blossom, and carried a white shower bouquet. Miss May Perriam, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid, and Mr Wm. Ewart, of Lowburn, acted as groomsman. The bridesmaid wore a pretty light blue frock trimmed with white lace, and she carried a bouquet of pink flowers. In the afternoon the happy couple left by motor for Queenstown en route to Invercargill, where the honeymoon will be spent. -Lake County Press, 7/12/1916.
The death took place at Cromwell, yesterday, of Mrs Jas. A. Llewllyn Cowan (nee Sarah Louisa Perriam, daughter of the late Chas. Perriam, Gibbston). Deceased was married only eighteen months ago. The funeral took place at Arrowtown this afternoon, the Rev. R. Geo. Coats, vicar of Wakatipu, conducting the burial service. Much sympathy will be felt throughout the district for the bereaved husband and other relatives. Mr Cowan has been in camp for some time. -Lake Wakatipu Mail, 7/5/1918.
OBITUARY.
Mrs James Cowan.
We regret to record the death of Mrs Cowan, wife of Mr Jas. A. L. Cowan, Gibbston, which sad event took place at Nurse Jones' nursing home, Cromwell, on Saturday last. Deceased had given birth to a child, and a short time afterwards passed away from heart failure. The late Mrs Cowan, who was 26 years of age, was the youngest daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Charles Perriam, Gibbston, and was greatly esteemed by all who knew her. Much sympathy is expressed for the bereaved husband (who is at present home on leave from Trentham camp) and relatives. The funeral took place at Arrowtown on Tuesday, and was largely attended. The service at St Paul's Church and at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. H G Coats. -Lake County Press, 9/65/1918.
PERSONAL.
Private James Cowan, Gibbston, who had been granted extended leave owing to the death of his wife recently, returned to camp on Monday. -Lake County Press, 25/7/1918.
