Suicide — Percy Usherwood, aged 24 years, committed suicide by hanging himself at Waimatuku on Saturday. He had been in the employ of Mr F. Boyd for some time, and went out to milk the cows about six o’clock, his body being soon afterwards found by one of his fellow employes hanging from a rafter in the cowshed. It was immediately cut down, but life was extinct. An inquest was held at Waimatuku before Mr J. W. Poynton and a jury of six, who, from the evidence of a number of witnesses, found that the deceased had committed suicide by hanging himself while temporarily insane.  -Southland Times, 26/6/1899.
