Janet Wyse Mackie Williamson, (22/6/1798,-27/4/1865). "on board the Philip Laing"

To-day, the old cemetery will be again opened to receive the remains of one of the original settlers of Otago. The late Mrs Williamson accompanied her husband, the late Mr Williamson, of Kaikorai Bank, to Otago as passenger on board the Philip Laing. Her health had been very much affected by the sudden death of her husband, which took place about seven years ago; but her decline had been more rapid during the last twelve months, till she sank in the arms of her daughter on Thursday last, the 27th of April. It is worthy of remark that the late Mr Williamson was the first purchaser of a property in the Otago Colonisation Scheme.  -Otago Daily Times, 1/5/1865.
