421961 Flight Sergeant Andrew William Clarke, 1919-4/10/1943. "on air-sea rescue"

Andrew Clark took off in an Avro Lancaster bomber at about 7am on October 4, 1943.  They flew out to the North Sea on a search and rescue mission. The aeroplane and its crew were lost without trace.

Andrew was posted as "missing on air operations," then "presumed dead, previously reported missing." The endless waiting of his family back in New Zealand can only be imagined.
