A correspondent writing from Gillespies Beach on Friday last says: — It is with deep regret I have to inform you of the death of James O'Leary, one of the oldest residents of South Westland. After three weeks of intense pain and suffering, he passed away at Mr E Ryan's Hotel, on February 23nd, loved and respected by all who knew him. Great credit is due to Mr Ryan for the manner in which he had him nursed and cared for in his illness, and the nice burial he gave him. -West Coast Times, 1/3/1892.
