An old resident of the Stafford district, Miss Mary Coyle, died last night. She had been very ill for some time but was apparently on the mend, and then appeared to collapse. She is well known throughout the Coast and has numerous friends who will hear of her death with deep regret. -West Coast Times, 4/11/1899.
The funeral of Miss Mary Coyle, which took place yesterday afternoon was most numerously attended. Her brothers, sisters, and herself are well liked throughout the district, and all wished to evince their esteem, and their sorrow at her death. Although she had been ill for a long time and it was feared that the disease — consumption — would ultimately prove fatal, the end was very sudden. It appears she had been out for a ride on a bicycle and the excessive exertion in her state of health caused the rupture of a blood vessel and from this she died within a comparatively short time of its occurring. -West Coast Times, 6/11/1899.
