Agnes Watson, (1890--26/8/1943). "the high esteem"


The death occurred on Thursday m the Buller Hospital of Mrs. Agnes Watson, of Birchfield, wife of Mr William Watson. Aged 53 years, she was a native of Broxburn, Scotland, and had resided in New Zealand for 22 years. Besides her husband, she, leaves one son, and a brother, Mr. J. Cumming. The sympathy of the community will go out to them in their sad loss.   -Grey River Argus, 28/8/1943.


There was a large gathering of mourners at the funeral of the late Mrs. Agnes Watson, and the many floral tributes which were placed on the grave marked the high esteem in which she was held. Six members of the 21st Independent Infantry Coy, of which Mrs. Watson’s husband was an officer were the pall-bearers, Messrs A. Williams, E. Collins, P. Sanders, K. Williams, H. Tregurtha and L. Williams. The services at the residence, Birchfield and at the graveside at Waimangaroa Cemetery were conducted by the Rev. A. McNeur.  -Grey River Argus, 31/8/1943.
