James Henry Kelly, (1896-24/12/1918). "practically all his life"

At Denniston on Tuesday evening, Mr James Kelly, son of Mr Patrick Kelly, of Karamea, passed away at the early age of 22 years. Death was due to the prevailing epidemic. Deceased had been in Denniston practically all his life. He was a member of the Denniston Fire Brigade and of the Druids’ Lodge, which were both represented in the cortege of his funeral at Waimangaroa on Christmas Day. He took a keen interest in sport as a member of Denniston senior football team, and also in cricket and hockey. His many friends regret his early demise.  -Greymouth Evening Star, 28/12/1918.
