Michael Sherlock, (31/10/1887-13/3/1927). "preparing for an operation"


The community received a shock on Sunday, when it became known that Mr. Michael Sherlock, of Kynnersley, Mokihinui, had joined the great majority. “Mick” had only arrived at the hospital at noon, being attacked with appendicitis, and an operation being necessary. He died at 2 p.m. “Mick” is a native of Waimangaroa, having been removed from there to the hotel at Kynnersley about nine months ago. The sympathy of the community will go out to his widow and family and numerous relatives in the District.  -Grey River Argus, 16/3/1927.


 DEATH FROM HEART FAILURE. 

(Per United Press association.) WESTPORT, March 16. At an inquest to-day touching the death of Michael Sherlock, an hotelkeeper at Kynnersley, who died in the Westport Hospital on Sunday under an anaesthetic, a verdict was returned that death was due to heart failure while preparing for an operation for appendicitis.  -Otago Daily Times, 16/3/1927.
